This hen steelhead took a stripped leech pattern. Headwaters Fly Fishing Co. Guide John Edstrom took this fish in one of the large holes on the Brule. The warmwater steelhead of late spring are good fighters and take flies well.
Mike goes for it with a client's fish. Long distance net jobs are a good idea when the wading conditions are poor. Seems like we chase them forever in high water.
A successful venture and a happy fly fisher!
Tony landed this nice resident Brown on the Brule fishing with guide Mike Riley. We see a lot of resident trout scooping up steelhead eggs in the spring and salmon eggs in the fall. They are usually quite girthy due to the hi-protein diet........
Sean experienced the strength and stamina of a wild steelhead while playing this nice 26" hen steelhead from the Brule. She was a leaper and gave the guys a great thrill.
Tony landed this typical spring male steelhead from the Brule. This is a fall run fish that spent the winter months in the deep pools of the Brule.
Headwaters Fly Fishing Co. Guide Mike Riley landed this nice spring run hen on a cloudy afternoon. A single egg glo-bug did the trick.
Mike looks for room to land a nice fish on the Brule River.
A pretty hen steelhead from the Brule. Most guides feel thier blood pressure drop immediately when they look in the net at a clients steelhead. A satisfying sight!
Barbara Redmond landed this nice male steelhead on the Brule. Barbara is a skilled steelhead fly fisher as well as one of the most determined steelheaders on the water. Guide Mike Riley guided her for a very nice day on the Brule. Well done Barbara!
